Communication Studies Student Opportunities

High-performing Communication Studies majors in Temple’s Klein College of Media and Communication are eligible for membership in Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association and the world’s largest organization dedicated to communication studies. An accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta has active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide.

The Alpha Beta Upsilon Chapter at Temple University, recognized as the best incoming chapter in 2015, aims to create and foster spaces for professional development and community engagement, which in its first year included running a semester-long clothing drive for a homeless shelter for transgender people, and participating in Philly AIDS Walk.

Any freshman, sophomore, transfer student, a student new to communication studies, or someone who is curious about the program is invited to participate in the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Studies Mentorship Program.

You’ll also have many other ways to get involved in Klein College student clubs and opportunities.

Though not required for graduation, internships are strongly recommended for gaining hands-on experience and the skills to succeed professionally. Surveys show that students who complete internships are more likely to receive post-graduation job offers and are better prepared for the workforce. Our internship directors work closely with students and employers—many of whom come to campus to recruit interns—to ensure their internships are excellent learning experiences.

Intern supervisors find that our students bring a solid educational background and work ethic to their experiences. Community services; international organizations; major businesses; media centers, such as radio and TV stations; and even an affiliate of the U.S. Department of Defense have hired Temple students, namely
