Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and Production

The Media Studies and Production (MSP) program takes its students well beyond the typical scope of a communications or broadcasting degree in order to prepare them for the new reality of 24/7 media.

MSP exists at the intersection of media studies and media production, which means that graduates of the program will know both the “why” and the “how” behind everything a media professional does, putting them in the best possible position for marketability and success.

Media is both continuous and ever-changing, so the MSP degree prepares its students for the job market now and in the future. Our graduates are more than ready for their first job, their next job and for the jobs that don’t even exist yet!

Using the nation’s fourth-largest media market as part of our classroom, we teach necessary skills and train students in professional development and networking throughout the program so they can grow and adapt quickly in order to become leaders in the field.

In our energized and highly collaborative program, you will learn the practical use of different forms of media, how to create content for different outlets and how to use the necessary tools to produce and engineer both sound and video using cutting-edge equipment. You will also learn about the history and evolution of media, cultural and gender representations in media, the legal and ethical issues intertwined with producing media, and how to properly harness the power of media to inform, persuade and influence through a variety of industries from advertising, marketing and business to news and entertainment.
