Public Relations Alumni

Alumni of the Klein College Public Relations program work at major corporations, communication agencies, nonprofit organizations and have founded their own businesses. They earn prestigious awards and are featured in major consumer and trade publications. Our alumni actively contribute and make an impact in the lives of others, and influence the industry locally, nationally and even internationally. This is a small sample of what Temple’s PR alumni have accomplished.

Deana Gamble ’07

Gamble is chief of staff in the Philadelphia mayor’s Office of Education. She has developed comprehensive communications strategies to engage citizens in the mayor’s educational initiatives, such as expanding pre-K education.

Meredith Avakian-Hardaway ’06

Avakian-Hardaway is director of communications and marketing at the Philadelphia Bar Association, where she’s responsible for the association’s leadership communications, media relations, publications, social media, web development and more. She’s also past president of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association, and serves as chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Association of America. Avakian-Hardaway was also named a “Rising Star in PR” by PR News in 2012 and received the prestigious Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Rising Star award in 2014.

Maggie Wurst ’17

Wurst is a marketing administrator at FluidEdge Consulting, a healthcare information technology and operational services company in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Guckin is a marketing communications associate for Chubb North America.

Alissa Steele ’16

Steele is marketing coordinator of Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. She was also a winner of Philadelphia PR Association’s Dr. Jean Brodey Award, given annually to a college junior or senior who has exhibited outstanding professional promise in the field of public relations, has an excellent academic track record and contributes to his or her community.
