Biography

Abbe Depretis recently joined the Department of Strategic Communication as a visiting assistant professor. Prior to joining the Temple faculty, Depretis was a lecturer at Christopher Newport University and the University of Maryland. Her area of study is rhetoric and political culture; particularly, she studies rhetoric and social change. Depretis’s dissertation area involves the rhetoric of the 1960s and 1970s, and she is currently pursuing research regarding the Chicago Eight trial of 19691970. Previous courses taught include Rhetoric and Social Movements, History of Rhetoric, Argumentation and Public Policy, Debate, Communication and Gender, Strategies and Tactics of Persuasion, Rhetoric and Political Culture, Public Speaking, Rhetorical Theory, Rhetorical Criticism, Public Dialogue in American Communities, and Communication and Film
