How to Apply

Global Opportunities  programs are open to both undergraduate and graduate students at Temple University and other institutions. Applications will be reviewed once all materials have been submitted. We will email applicants our decision about admission.

Steps to Apply to Global Opportunities

  • Research the programs you are interested in using the pages on this site or our program database.
  • Stop by our office or complete this form. Global Opportunities staff are happy to meet with students both in-person and virtually to review their options and provide an overview of the programs.
  • Schedule an appointment with Global Opportunities Assistant Director Allie K. Miller. During this meeting, you’ll prepare for your application and review how to finance your program.
  • Apply to your program through the GO portal and for scholarships from Global Opportunities, Klein College or national organizations.
  • Upon acceptance, enroll in your program, review your course registration with your academic advisor and attend pre-departure orientation.

Application Timelines

Spring

Application opens: Aug. 1, 2017
Application closes: Oct. 10, 2017
Enrollment deadline: Oct. 27, 2017

Summer

Application opens: Nov. 1, 2017
Application closes: Feb. 15, 2018
Enrollment deadline: March 11, 2018

Fall

Application opens: Dec. 1, 2017
Application closes: March 15, 2018
Enrollment deadline: March 31, 2018

To be eligible to study away, you must

  • have a 3.0 cumulative GPA (preferred);
  • be enrolled as a full-time, matriculated student;
  • have completed at least two semesters of college level study;
  • be in good academic and disciplinary standing (students on academic or disciplinary probation or warning may not participate); and
  • plan to undertake a full-time program of study while away.

The Semester Programs Application requires

  • two academic references from college professors or teaching assistants;
  • an essay approximately one to two pages (500 words) long, describing how the program would contribute to your personal and academic development; 
  • unofficial transcripts from Temple and any previous institutions attended;
  • that non-Temple students submit official transcripts from their home institutions; and
  • a current résumé and personal statement (if you are planning on interning).

The Summer Programs Application requires 

  • one academic reference from a college professor or teaching assistant;
  • an essay approximately one to two pages (500 words) long, describing how the program would contribute to your personal and academic development;
  • unofficial transcripts from Temple and any previous institutions attended;
  • that non-Temple students submit official transcripts from their home institutions; and 
  • a current résumé (Global Internship Program only).
