Scholarships for Studying Away
Klein College Study Away administers several scholarships to help offset the costs of students’ experiences. During the 2015–2016 academic year, Klein College Study Away awarded nearly $235,000;in scholarships!
Diane M. Rencevicz Memorial Scholarship
Students studying in London through Temple’s semester program are eligible for a $5,000 scholarship awarded in memory of Diane M. Rencevicz. Students must have financial need, and the recipient is selected by the London Scholarship Committee. The award should be used for tuition, and/or room and board. One scholarship per semester is awarded; all students who apply for an Klein College Study Away scholarship (see below) while applying for the program are considered for this scholarship.
Coughlin Family Foundation Scholarship
Students studying in London through Temple’s summer faculty-led program are eligible for a $5,000 scholarship awarded in part by a donation by the Coughlin Family Foundation. Students must have financial need, and the recipient is selected by the London Scholarship Committee. The award should be used for tuition, and/or room and board. Three scholarships will be awarded for summer 2017; all students that apply for an Klein College Study Away scholarship (see below) while applying for the program are considered for this scholarship.
Klein College Study Away Scholarship (need-based)
Klein College Study Away has reserved 60 percent of its scholarship funds to assist students with financial need with their Study Away expenses. The awards range from $500 to $3,000 and the amount of the award is determined by Klein College Study Away in consultation with Temple’s financial aid office.
Klein College Study Away Multimedia Scholarship
The Klein College Study Away Multimedia Scholarship is for students interested in writing and documenting their experiences in various forms of multimedia. Awardees are expected to send in entries via blogs, images or videos. Students may receive up to $1,000 for the semester program or $500 for the summer program.
Global Access Scholarship
The Global Access Scholarship aims to create a community of Klein College Study Away students who reflect Temple’s student body on Main Campus. Those who identify as nontraditional students are encouraged to apply. Recipients are awarded $1,000.
First Time Study Away Scholarship
The First Time Study Away Scholarship project aims to encourage travel among students who have never left the U.S. and gives them a chance to explore the world. Awardees receive $500.
NEW: FIExplore! Study Abroad Planning Scholarship
FIExplore! Study Abroad Planning Scholarships are awarded by the Foundation for International Education in coordination with Klein College Study Away. These $3,000 scholarships target freshman and sophomore students who demonstrate significant financial need and who would otherwise be unable to, and might not even consider, studying abroad. Students apply for this scholarship in freshman or sophomore year, utilizing the $3,000 for a spring semester study away program in Dublin or London at a later point in their academic careers. Eligible freshmen and sophomores will be able to apply during the spring 2017 term. More information will be provided in February or March 2017.
