What is the Klein College Mock Pitch (KCMP)?

The Klein College Mock Pitch (KCMP) is more than a competition—it’s a creative playground for the next generation of media makers. Designed for Philadelphia high school students, KCMP is a hands-on, high-energy introduction to the world of advertising and public relations.

Students explore:

  • Copywriting
  • Graphic design
  • Media planning
  • Research & strategy
  • Public relations (PR)
  • Project management

Led by Temple University’s Klein College faculty, staff, and students, the KCMP empowers Philadelphia public high school students to form their own peer-run agencies and develop a full-blown campaign pitch. These pitches are presented to a panel of real-world clients, industry pros, educators, and college students—with the chance to see their ideas come to life.

Why It Matters Now

Advertising and public relations are evolving fast—and KCMP is your chance to be part of that evolution.

This competition isn’t just about learning the basics. It’s about stepping into the shoes of today’s creative and strategic professionals and building campaigns that reflect what’s happening in the real world. From TikTok virality to immersive brand experiences, KCMP helps students understand—and apply—the trends shaping the industry right now:

  • Authenticity-first storytelling—like Dove’s inclusive campaigns, KCMP encourages students to build ideas that reflect real voices and lived experiences.
  • Nostalgia marketing – students can tap into cultural memory, just like McDonald’s did with its Shania Twain collab, to create emotionally resonant campaigns.
  • Influencer-powered social commerce – KCMP teams will explore how creators and platforms drive engagement, just like Alo Yoga’s Kendall Jenner drop.
  • Gamified brand experiences—inspired by how Nike turned virtual fashion into interactive play with its Fortnite “Kicks” launch, students are encouraged to think about how campaigns can be fun, participatory, and immersive.
  • AR/VR immersion – KCMP challenges students to imagine bold, immersive ideas, like IKEA’s surreal office ad.
  • Humor and virality – students will learn how to craft content that connects and spreads, just like Duolingo’s meme-worthy “RIP Duo” campaign.

KCMP gives students the tools, mentorship, and creative freedom not only to understand these trends—but to build campaigns that can lead the next wave of innovation.
