Biography

An innovative and entrepreneurial educator who is a leader undertaking initiatives to benefit the university environment, Tutelman has an excellent reputation for collaboration across disciplines and initiating programs both academic and extracurricular. She is a proven leader with strong networking skills that facilitated development and planning of events raising $10,000 to $350,000.

Tutelman’s leadership and management skills include

• collaborating with diverse constituencies,
• mentoring junior faculty,
• designing programming for the university,
• advising and mentoring students,
• managing multiple teams simultaneously,
• counseling alumni in career advancement,
• effective budget management,
• innovative curricular concepts, and
• developing branding through media programming.

During 10 years of service as a department chair, Tutelman oversaw departmental growth from 200 to nearly 800 students. She also led 19 full-time and 20 adjunct faculty in strategic planning, during which the department expanded its involvement with other academic units in cross-collaborative research and activities with academic units such as the Fox School of Business and Management, the College of Public Health and others.

Tutelman also managed class scheduling and the coordination of faculty assignments, maximized research time for faculty and created the sequencing of course offerings, which enabled students to complete their degrees on time.

For 24 years, she has cultivated relationships with media institutions and organizations, networking to build internship and job opportunities for students. As co-director of an internship program, she placed more than 2,400 students.

Tutelman also developed a TV news magazine program and cultivated a relationship with a local cable station to carry a half-hour weekly program. She served as executive producer of nearly 400 shows.

She has developed multimedia initiatives for a science museum, education organizations and not-for-profit agencies. One program, funded by Betz Laboratories, was distributed to schools in the region and the state.

Pieces she produced in collaboration with organizations were recognized for their sensitivity of issues that affect diverse populations. She is also media-trained for emergency first responders during crises.

Tutelman has designed, produced and coordinated high-profile women’s leadership conferences (Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women) and SMC alumni events that have drawn 250 to 400 attendees. She co-created the highly accomplished Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women and Women’s Hall of Fame, for which she planned and executed annual conferences.

Tutelman has also brought national media organizations to campus to recruit students from all disciplines.
