Brian McFadden is a doctoral student who is primarily interested in researching identity performance on social platforms and other virtual spaces. Brian received both his bachelor and master of arts from Fordham University (NY). As a former sports reporter, Brian is also interested in studying the intersections between sports, media, and culture. Brian has presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences, including the Media Ecology Association, Popular Culture and American Culture Association, Eastern Communication Association, Northeast Popular Culture Association, and New York State Communication Association.
Currently, Brian lives in New York with his wife and daughter and teaches at Hofstra University (NY) as a member of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations department within the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. There, Brian serves as faculty advisor to the Hofstra Chronicle and Hofstra’s Sports Networking Club.
