Biography
Lauren Bullock, Ph.D., is an experienced leader in communication, leadership education and sports media. As an Assistant Professor at Temple University, she directs the B.A. in Sports Media program and teaches courses on leadership, civic engagement, digital and social media, and public relations. She has taught or led leadership and athletics courses or programs for over 15 years.
Before joining Klein College as a full-time faculty member, Lauren spent 10 years organizing leadership programs for students in the Division of Student Affairs at both Main and Ambler campuses. During that time, she strengthened her skills and education in strategic communication, strengths-based education and diversity leadership.
In addition to her strong background in leadership, Lauren has extensive experience and education in sports leadership. She graduated from Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management with a major in sport and recreation management and a minor in journalism, public relations, and advertising. She then earned a Master of Science in athletic administration from Florida State University. While at FSU, she publicized the Seminoles’ national champion track and field program, cross country teams, and women’s tennis squad. Later, she promoted conference and national champion cross country, track and field, and soccer teams at the University of Texas at Austin. Her first position in the industry was a coordinator role at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. More recently, Lauren joined the leadership team at Stretch, a boutique communications firm that coaches front office executives and head coaches.
In addition to her educational and work experience, Lauren’s research interest aligns with her professional goals of teaching leadership communication within sports, media, and higher education. Her dissertation, titled "Teaching During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Multiple Case Study Exploring Faculty Experiences in Fostering Positive Interaction with U.S.-Based Undergraduate Students," examined faculty perspectives on teaching undergraduate students in U.S.-based schools during the height of the global pandemic.
As part of her service to the leadership education community, Lauren releases weekly episodes of The Leadership Educator Podcast during the fall and spring semesters. The podcast focuses on facilitating conversations about leadership education and development.
Lauren also holds certifications in Strategic Communications, Diversity Leadership, CliftonStrengths, and the Inclusive Behavior Inventory. Her research focuses on leadership communication within sports, media, and higher education.
