Biography

Dana Saewitz, Associate Professor of Instruction, has been teaching at Temple University since 2005. She teaches Advertising & Globalization, Media & Society, Global Communication & Leadership,
Intro to Marketing
 and more. Dana served as Chair of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations from 2015 to 2020.

Each year for the past two years, Dana has co-taught a domestic study-away course on the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson with her colleagues Professor David Brown and Dr. Meghnaa Tallapragada. In January 2024, the course will take students to Washington, DC to tour the National Museum of African American History and Culture and also the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Dana recently co-edited, with Professor David Brown, a special issue of Philly Ad Club Magazine devoted to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This is the second issue of the magazine devoted to DE&I,
the prior issue was published in 2019. Dana also introduced and helped produce the Philly Ad Club Economic Impact Study of 2017 and the prior Economic Impact Study published in 2012.

Dana served on the Board of the Philly Ad Club from 2016 to 2020, served as co-chair of the Philly Ad Club students committee for many years, and served as co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion
Committee from 2018-2020.

Prior to teaching at Temple, Dana worked in the advertising industry for more than 15 years. She earned a master’s degree with a concentration in media and society from the University of Pennsylvania.

In 2011, Dana earned Klein College’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award, and in 2017 she earned Klein College’s Outstanding Faculty Service Award. Dana was the co-winner of the 2018 Faculty Professional Achievement Award for Klein College, honored to share this with her esteemed colleague David Brown.
