Describe your current occupation and if applicable, how was Temple the launchpad for your current position?
During the final years in my role as President of the Music Business Association, I began teaching as an adjunct about the recording industry and music business ecosystem at Monmouth University. My dream was to bring this course to my alma mater. After a few guest speaking stints within Klein and Boyer, I was offered the opportunity to join Klein College as an Adjunct Instructor to teach Recording Industry & Music Business in January 2019. I could never have imagined that I would be back on Temple’s campus 42 years after my graduation in this capacity, but it has been an amazing experience. In 2022, I added a second class, the Media Studies & Production Senior Seminar. In addition to my teaching, I have a company called Sir James Productions through which I offer consulting, speaking and writing services. I published my first children’s book in 2019 entitled “Zane to the Rescue.” It’s a true story about adopting shelter animals and unconditional love.

Why do you support Temple University and serve on the Klein Alumni Association Board?
I have always been extremely proud of my Temple experience and promoted the University to family and friends. In fact, my niece earned her degree in Early Childhood Education and worked for the University’s Jumpstart Program. The daughter of a former staff member of mine attended Klein College, earning a degree in Public Relations. I am a big proponent of Temple and excited and honored to be serving on the Klein Alumni Association Board to help grow the College’s reputation and enrollment.

What excites you about the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication?
Since joining the faculty in January 2019, it has been a personal goal of mine to have Klein College be among the top academic institutions in the country, recognized for the ability to help prepare the next generation of music industry professionals. Our new Audio & Live Entertainment major is a key development in making this happen.

What advice could you give someone looking to become more engaged with Klein College?
Klein College has a stellar legacy of accomplished graduates who have entered the media arena well-suited to create, innovate and make a difference. Alumni have the chance to contribute the gift of their time, experience and support to ensure we can continue this success well into the future.

What was your favorite memory while a student at Temple?
My favorite memory was meeting the person during orientation in the summer of 1973 who would actually become my longest lifetime friend. We are celebrating 50 years as friends in 2023.
