Biography
A native of Brazil, Julia Longo’s research examines the intersection of media and education, with a focus on fostering critical thinking in media production and consumption among adolescents in marginalized communities. Through participatory methodologies, she explores youth activism, media citizenship, and communication for social change.
Before beginning her doctoral studies, Julia conducted media literacy workshops for marginalized adolescent communities in Brazil and taught filmmaking at NGOs. Her work aimed to bridge the digital divide, promote agency, and encourage communicative action among young people.
Julia holds a Master’s in Communication from Casper Libero College and an MBA in Marketing from the same institution. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Filmmaking from SENAC University in São Paulo and has a minor in Latin American Studies and Documentary.
