Junhan (Julian) Wang is a proud native of Chongqing, China. His research is situated in the subfield of Media Industries Studies, focusing on the changing relationships among platforms, cultural production, and digital labor.
His current work examines how digital platforms and emerging technologies, especially AI, are changing how creative and entertainment content is produced, distributed, and consumed. He is particularly interested in how these changes reshape the conditions of cultural production and redistribute resources, opportunities, and power among platforms, content creators, and other media institutions within broader legal, policy, and economic contexts. His qualitative research draws on ethnographic, cultural studies, and critical political economy approaches.
Junhan received his BA in TV and Film Programming and Directing from Shanghai Theatre Academy and his MA in Media Studies and Production from Temple University.
As a fun fact, Junhan loves hotpot and bubble tea. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, taking photographs, hiking, and cooking.
