Kristina Hammerschmidt is an Assistant Professor of Practice and proud Temple University alumna (Klein '12) who brings nearly a decade of broadcast newsroom experience into the classroom. Before joining the Klein College faculty, Kristina served as News Director at KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia. Her career also includes producing and writing roles at WFMZ-TV in Allentown, CBS3 in Philadelphia, and WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Maryland.

As a student, Kristina was deeply involved in Temple Update, the university's award-winning, weekly newscast produced entirely by students. In April 2011, she had the honor of producing the first live broadcast on TUTV—a newscast that went on to win Update's first NATAS Mid-Atlantic Student Award for Excellence,
College Production-Newscast. That full-circle moment now fuels her commitment to hands-on, experiential learning for Temple's next generation of media professionals.
