Biography

Ye Ju Ki is a PhD student in the Klein College of Media and Communication. As an experienced photographer and videographer, she hopes to incorporate visual materials into communication inquiry in various ways. This led to her interest in visual methodology and participatory research methods as a way to broaden the scope of communication inquiry as well as a way to resolve the issue of power relations inherent in research setting. Her research interests primarily lie in cultural studies and visual communication with additional interest in visual culture, photography theory, and qualitative methodology. Her current work focuses on the role of identity in media production and (re)defining the concept of gaze.
