Biography

Yujie Zhong’s research explores the interactions between Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and marginalized groups, particularly women. She aims to investigate how ICTs facilitate digital empowerment and drive social change across diverse cultural and societal contexts. She hold san M.A. in Journalism & Communication from Wuhan University and a B.A. in Journalism & Communication from Nanjing Normal University.

Yuji’s recent paper “Digitally Mediated (Dis)Empowerment Paradox in Women-Led Group-Buying During the Shanghai COVID Lockdown” was published in the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication. She has presented research at international and national communication conferences, including the International Communication Association (ICA) Conference, the National Communication Association (NCA) Convention, and the International Sociological Association (ISA) World Congress of Sociology. She specialize in qualitative research methods, such as in-depth interviews and textual analysis, but is also actively learning quantitative approaches such as content analysis.
