Biography

Assistant Professor Stacey Harpster has an extensive background in marketing and advertising and currently teaches Introduction to Advertising, Persuasive Writing and Advertising Campaigns—a capstone course, in which senior-level advertising students are divided into agency teams that compete in pitches to real clients. During her 13 years in the industry, Harpster served as a strategist at the Brownstein Group and a senior account executive at Kanter International (now Finch Brands). Before joining Kanter, she served more than 450 small business clients at the Temple University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where she founded the Creative Department and served as its director. Harpster made the Temple SBDC Creative Department into one of SBDC’s largest departments while also managing all the center’s marketing efforts.

Among her many awards, she received a Philadelphia Ad Club Award and a Temple Advertising Portfolio Development Award for Best Copywriter Portfolio and the 2000 Small Business Administration Award for Best Consulting Project.

Harpster earned her MBA in Marketing from the Fox School of Business and Management at Temple and graduated magna cum laude from the Bachelor of Arts program in Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising, with a concentration in Advertising Copywriting, from the Temple University School of Media and Communication. She also completed a minor in Philosophy.
