When Mason Lefever, KLN ’25, was just four years old, he and his family took a trip to Disney for what was supposed to be a one-time trip. At the end of the night, when the fireworks lit up in the sky, Lefever’s dad saw his face and knew they needed to come back every year.
However, Lefever won’t need to just visit Disney anymore, since he landed an internship with the Walt Disney World Company as a Consumer Products Marketing Strategy Intern. He started this June and was supposed to end in January. His time at Disney was recently extended to June 2026.
“I got this fortune cookie back in January,” Lefever said. “It said, ‘Be prepared to accept the wondrous opportunity in the days ahead,’ and it had my lucky number on it. So, I taped it in my phone and I said, ‘You know what—I think it’s going to happen.’”
He started the application process back in February and went through several stages of interviews. By late April, his luck had given up, and he was sure he hadn’t gotten the position. The next day, he received a call—he received an offer for the internship.
In his role, Lefever helps manage all aspects of Disney products, driving campaigns to draw attention to new and upcoming products from priority retailers and licensees to consumers.
During his time at Temple, Lefever was heavily involved on and off campus. Within his first few months on campus, he became a campus tour guide and eventually landed a Social Media Ambassador position with the university. Additionally, he spent the last few months of his time in school as a Project Manager for Cherry Consulting.
In his professional career, Lefever had plenty of experience and internships to back up his accolades. During his time as an undergraduate, he interned with Allied Global Marketing, Paramount Pictures, The Spellbound Group and lastly, with NBCUniversal.
At NBCUniversal, Lefever contributed to the marketing strategy for the lifestyle show Philly Live, helping to develop a new promotional concept. He played a key role in connecting the show's host with diverse audiences and expanding its presence on social media. During his first four months, he increased the account's social media following by 42%. Originally scheduled to stay through the summer of 2024, his role was extended twice, ultimately continuing through April of this year.
Lizzy Murashige, marketing and creative project manager at NBCUniversal, was one of Lefever’s supervisors during his time. She shared that she was drawn to his maturity and initiative during the hiring process. He was quick to ask strategic questions and understood the process of a campaign.
“What started as supporting our projects turned into generating full marketing campaigns—from concept to execution,” said Murashige. “He showed his confidence in presenting his ideas, collaborating with different departments and stepping up at community events. He became someone we all relied on—not just for his talent, but for his positive attitude and professionalism.”
On top of all of that, he was still a student. One of his professors, Director of Sports Media Lauren Bullock, was immediately impressed by his work ethic and ability to adapt to challenges after first meeting Lefever in the spring of 2024. Additionally, she saw how much of an asset he was in the classroom, pushing himself and the others around him.
“He would ask the questions that others were afraid to ask,” Bullock said. “He would sign up for the programs that others were scared to attend for various reasons. He looked to encourage others to pursue their dreams in the same way he pursued his.”
Lefever did not land his role with the Walt Disney World Company by chance. He earned it through tenacity and hard work during his time at Temple, making intentional connections through career fairs, professors and key figures in Klein College who helped him get to where he is today.
“It’s been a year trying to connect with everyone and their mother just to learn a little more about [Disney],” Lefever said. “I definitely think that helped with researching and getting ready for interviews. I think it gave me a step over other people.”
