Klein Ceremony

Klein College of Media and Communication holds its graduation ceremonies on Main Campus in May and December of each year. Graduates have the opportunity to hear their name read, walk across the stage in their cap and gown, and have a keepsake picture taken by a professional photographer.

The RSVP and Ticket Request site is open now through March 23, 2025. Only eligible graduates can RSVP/request tickets for their guests.

  • Up to four tickets will be provided to each graduate for University Commencement ceremony guests.

  • Graduating students do not need tickets; wearing a cap, gown and hood will suffice for entry.

  • Ticket limitations vary for each school/college ceremony.

RSVP for Klein's Ceremony

Student eligible to graduate should have received an email from Klein Events with instructions on how to register via Tassel.

Using your Temple Accessnet username (tua12345) and password, log in and complete the registration.

    Pre-Reception

    Graduates and their guests are invited to join Klein administration and faculty for a pre-reception with light refreshments in the rear of Annenberg Hall prior to the ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

    Family and Friends Tickets

    Guests are welcome to celebrate your graduation with you. Each graduate can bring up to 10 guests to Klein's ceremony. NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED for Klein's ceremony on May 8.

    Mandatory Online Graduation Application

    The online graduation application notifies Temple University and Klein College of your intent to graduate and allows the Office of University Registrar (OUR) to prepare your electronic online diploma; as well as, mailing a hardcopy of your diploma. If you missed the deadline, please contact 

    To apply to graduate:  

    1. Log into your TUPortal.
    2. Click the Self-Service Banner link in the left column.
    3. Select Student, Student Records, and Apply to Graduate.
    4. Follow the instructions to complete.

    Ordering Your Academic Regalia

    If you are planning to attend the Klein's Spring 2025 Graduation Ceremony, you are required to wear regalia to walk across the stage and hear your name read. Purchases can be made on the Temple's bookstore website or in person at the Main Campus Bookstore located at:

    We know graduation is an exciting time, but it also comes with a lot of questions. To help you prepare for this important milestone, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common inquiries about the ceremony, tickets, regalia and more.     Applying to Graduate

    Graduation isn’t automatic—you must apply to graduate to ensure you receive your degree and can participate in the ceremony. This section answers common questions about the application process, deadlines, eligibility requirements and what to expect after you apply.

    How do I apply to graduate?

    All potential graduates should apply to graduate by February 1. 

    *Applying to graduate is an Office of the University Registrar (OUR) procedure. This alerts the OUR of a student’s intention to complete their degree. This is a separate process from RSVPing to the Klein Graduation Ceremony and/or Commencement Ceremony.

    Steps to Apply to Graduate 

    1. Log into TUportal.
    2. Click on Student Tools near the top of the page.
    3. Navigate to the "Records" channel.
    4. Click on the Apply to Graduate link.
    What are the requirements to graduate?

    Students must reach at least 124 credits, have a GPA of 2.0 or above and successfully complete all majorand general education requirements with passing grades.

    Am I on track to graduate?

    Students should have received an email in January confirming OR denying that they are on track to graduate from one of the following advisors: Rob Dearden, Bea Fernandez, Kendra Johnson, Elliot Rouse or Associate Director Mary Beth Flynn.

    If you did not receive this email and are unsure if you meet the requirements to graduate, please make an appointment with your assigned advisor via the Student Tools tab on the TUportal.

    What does my graduation status mean?
    • Once students apply to graduate, they will see a PENDING graduation status until final grades are submitted 2-3 weeks after the ceremony and after advisors have reviewed graduation applications. The unsuccessful completion of a course requirement can change your graduation status.
    • If there are any issues with your graduation status, Klein's academic advising office will notify you via email. Please be sure to check your email throughout the month of May.
    How will my name appear on my diploma?
    • The academic name is the name that will be displayed on the diploma. Students can view their diploma names here
    • Students can submit diploma name change requests on TUcredentials by clicking the Name Change Form button. A copy of government-issued identification showing the student’s full legal name is required.

    Ceremony vs. Commencement

    Graduation and commencement are often used interchangeably, but they aren’t the same. This section answers common questions about both to help you understand what to expect.

    What is the difference between Temple University’s Commencement and Klein's Graduation ceremony?

    Temple University’s Commencement is on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Liacouras Center. This is a university-wide tradition where graduates of each school or college are welcome to attend in the audience. *Graduates will not be crossing the stage or having their names read for Commencement.

     

    Klein College’s Graduation Ceremony is on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Liacouras Center. This is a Klein College event where Klein graduates will hear their name read, walk across the stage wearing their academic regalia, and have a keepsake picture taken by a professional photographer. Graduates should report one hour before the ceremony starts.

    What is the deadline to RSVP for Klein’s Graduation Ceremony?

    The deadline to RSVP for Klein's Graduation Ceremony is April 16.

    How do I register for the Klein Graduation Ceremony?

    Applying to graduate does not mean that you have reserved a spot for the graduation ceremony.

    Student eligible to graduate should have received an email from Klein Events with instructions on how to register via Tassel. Using your Temple Accessnet username (tua12345) and password, log in and complete the registration.

    How do I get tickets for Temple University’s Commencement?

    Where do I get my honor cords?

    If applicable, eligible graduates can receive their honor cords at the Klein College Graduation Tabling Sessions. An email will be sent from Klein Events with the date, time and location of the tabling sessions.

    What are the Graduation Tabling Sessions?

    The Graduation Tabling Sessions are where graduating students can pick up their senior gifts, receive honor cords (if applicable), complete the First Destination survey and obtain their 4 Temple University Commencement tickets.

    You can also discuss any need for accessible seating/parking with our representatives.

    An email will be sent from Klein Events with the date, time and location of the tabling sessions.

    Day of Must Knows

    To ensure everything goes smoothly, it’s important to know the key details about arrival times, check-in procedures, seating and other essential logistics. This section covers everything you need to be prepared and make the most of your special day.

    Are tickets required for Klein’s graduation ceremony?

    Tickets are not required for the Klein College Graduation Ceremony, but each student is limited to ten guests.

    What time do doors open?

    Doors open to guests one hour before the ceremony begins. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. and the doors will open at 1 p.m.

    What time should graduates show up?

    Graduates should arrive no later than one hour before the ceremony, which is 1 p.m. at the Liacouras Center Loading Dock to receive their seat assignment and name card.

    How do I get photos from the graduation ceremony?

    All graduates will have their photo taken as they cross the stage. In addition, after exiting the stage, a photographer will be stationed to capture a photo of each graduate. Photos taken during the ceremony can be downloaded within one to three days of the graduation ceremony.     Will the graduation be streamed online?

    The ceremony will be streamed live for all family and friends who are not in attendance. To watch the live stream, visit Klein’s graduation website

    How do I get accessible seating and parking?

    If a graduate or their guests need accessible seating and/or parking, they are able to indicate that on the RSVP form for Klein Graduation and Commencement. They are also able to discuss it at Graduation Tabling in the Annenberg Hall Atrium.

    What can I bring in to the Liacouras Center? Is there a bag policy?
    • Large bags and backpacks are not permitted and a clear bag policy will be in effect.
    • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" (a logo can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag)
    • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
    • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap) and belt bags, no bigger than a clutch, are permitted
    • Medically necessary items and diaper bags are permitted (after proper search and inspection)
