Darren is a doctoral researcher whose interests include political entertainment, digital humor, and the Chinese diasporic media.

Before joining Temple, Darren held teaching positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), with experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes. At Temple, Darren teaches Satire, Democracy, and Journalism, a course he created for the Journalism Department, and Advertising and Globalization, a general education course. Darren also teaches the latter class at Temple’s Japan Campus in Tokyo.

Darren holds a master’s degree in politics and communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a bachelor's degree in organizational communication from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).
