Informed by a background in autonomous political theory and their past research exploring traditional journalism's coverage of grassroots movements, Mitch Perkins examines who defines and speaks for movements in cultural discourse.
Mitch's dissertation looks to leftist media and its discourse regarding identity's role in politics, both currently and historically. Mitch also studies activists' use of alternative media to share radical knowledge, develop mutual aid, and mobilize.
