Biography
William Cook is an assistant professor in the Department of Advertising and currently teaches Introduction to Advertising, Introduction to Advertising Research, Introduction to Media & Society, and Persuasive Writing. Before joining the department as a full-time faculty member, Cook worked in advertising, public relations and event planning in Philadelphia and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. During that time, he focused on account services and copywriting, representing residential and commercial building product manufacturers such as Armstrong, Tile of Spain, Vetrazzo, Wood-Mode and many others. From 2010 to 2014, he also served as an adjunct professor at Temple University, eventually transitioning to a full-time role in fall 2014.
Though Cook was briefly a “Nittany Lion” when he attended Penn State University for his master’s degree in Communications, he is a Temple Owl at heart. He completed his undergraduate degree in Advertising and German language studies, with a minor in Business Administration, at Temple.
Cook believes that the incredible diversity at Temple, and the resulting attitude of acceptance and growth through the bringing together of different cultures, is the reason our advertising students go on to have amazing careers after graduation. “You truly get a world-class education at Temple, but you also get to know people of all backgrounds and walks of life,” he says. “When you enter the real world after finishing the program here, you quickly realize what Temple has done to change your outlook on life for the better.”
