Philadelphia, PA – Students from the Klein College of Media and Communication join together to present a series of personal stories in a TED-like format as a call to action for the Temple University community to create social change. The second annual Owl Be The Change Story Series will be held in 103 Tuttleman Hall on Monday, April 22 from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 pm. The event is presented in association with the Temple Global Days of Service.
The five stories were developed by students in one of the newest courses in the college’s Department of Communication and Social Influence; Communication and Civic Engagement.
“Our students have been working all semester to connect their passion for social change with the movements making that change,” said course instructor, Bill Romani. “Owl Be The Change is an exciting opportunity to bring their values and purpose to the entire Temple community.”
Owl Be the Change is open to the public and will be aired live on Facebook at Facebook/OwlBeTheChange. The student stories will be followed by an informal reception where attendees will have the opportunity to speak with the presenters and learn how they can get involved with the organizations and movements described during the session. Light refreshments will be served.
Social Influence students develop a combination of humanistic and social-scientific approaches to affect positive social change in cities through persuasion-based public communication.
Temple University Global Days of Service takes place between April 22 and 28 to unite Temple alumni and friends worldwide in community service on a single day. Global Day of Service is a great opportunity to help spread the pride alumni have for Temple, recognize the combined efforts that alumni have on local communities, and demonstrate how Temple alumni change the world!
