Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication is proud to announce Chris Blackman as our new director of career services in the Office of Student Success.
Blackman’s predecessor and former NBC colleague, Lu Ann Cahn, will remain a valuable asset to Klein College. Cahn will lead the college’s professional development seminar and various additional courses. She will also provide career coaching sessions.
“We [were] looking for someone with plenty of industry experience and lots of heart to mentor, teach and coach,” Cahn wrote. “Someone who will help create those industry connection opportunities for some of the grittiest and brightest students you’ll ever meet.”
Those qualities were found in none other than Blackman, who served as former Vice President of News at NBC10 Philadelphia and spent time abroad in Hong Kong and Singapore, where he was Vice President of News and Programming at CNBC Asia.
“Through the interview and orientation process, Chris has brought great energy and enthusiasm for connecting our students with professional development opportunities across a range of media and communication industries,” wrote Vice Dean for Student Success Maggie Lewis.
His extensive experience in media, communication, and production, both nationally and internationally, has positioned him as a key figure in ensuring the continued success of our current students and graduates.
Lewis noted that she is confident that Blackman’s addition to the Klein College family will make him an excellent partner to develop more extensive student success operations from Klein College and engagement opportunities for students, faculty, alumni and employers.
Blackman’s office can be found in Annenberg Hall, Room 007, in the Student Success Suite. The Klein College community is very excited to explore the endless opportunities and possibilities in career development for our students.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the remarkable Career Services team and follow in the footsteps of my friend, Lu Ann Cahn,” Blackman said. “I hope to build on her remarkable legacy at Klein College and continue to help our students make their dreams a reality. I couldn’t be happier to be an Owl!”
