The Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University, in partnership with Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication’s Center for Community-Engaged Media (CCEM), will host its 10th Collaborative Journalism Summit at Temple University’s Science, Education and Research Center (SERC) building on May 14 and 15. The conference is supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Wyncote Foundation, Lenfest Institute for Journalism and the University of Missouri’s Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute.
Since 2017, the Summit has brought together journalists, funders, academics and media leaders annually to strengthen collaboration in journalism. The Summit has been hosted in Montclair, N.J., Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Detroit, and Denver.
“It’s only fitting that we bring the Summit back to Philadelphia, given the high level of collaboration and partnership happening across the entire state of Pennsylvania,” said Stefanie Murray, director of the Center for Cooperative Media. “I’m excited to showcase innovative work happening in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Harrisburg and more.”
The Summit will feature a day and a half of insightful speeches, panel discussions with industry leaders, lightning talks curated from community pitches, networking opportunities and hands-on workshops. The Summit aligns with the CCEM’s mission to support research and projects that address the information needs and civic health of communities.
“We are thrilled to support this event,” said Letrell Crittenden, director of the CCEM. “Collaboration is essential toward building healthy news ecosystems, and the Center for Cooperative Media has been at the forefront of this work for years. We have a shared vision and are pleased to work alongside them in bringing this conference to Philadelphia and Temple.”
Registration is on Eventbrite.
